Vast chamber with an enchanted ceiling that mirrors the sky outside. Four long tables for the four houses. Closest to the doors from the Entrance Hall is Slytherin, then Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and next to the far wall, Gryffindor. The teachers sit at the High Table, a table on a raised platform at the front of the room.

A door behind the staff table allows a person to enter the Great Hall from outside without going through the main entrance. There are windows into this room from the lawn outside

The Staffroom is located on the ground floor and is a long, panelled room with mismatched, dark wooden chairs. There is wardrobe inside it which was once home to a Boggart before the 1993 Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Remus Lupin, taught his third year class how to vanquish it. The entrance to this room is guarded by two stone Gargoyles that can talk.

Potions classes are held in a dungeon classroom, large enough to hold at last twenty students, their cauldrons, and their work tables. The classroom is quite cold, especially in the winter, when students can see their breath. There are pickled animals in glass jars along the walls. There is a basin in the corner of the classroom into which icy cold water pours from a gargoyle's mouth. A student supply cupboard is in the room, along with a blackboard on which the instructor can write directions for student work

The room has windows looking out onto the grounds. An iron chandelier hangs from the ceiling, although it broke loose and fell during the pixie incident.

History of Magic is a required class for all students attending Hogwarts. History of Magic is taught from the first year to the fifth, and an option for sixth and seventh. in this class students learn about the history of magic,focusing on the dates ,places and events. A large open classroom filled with history books and artifacts.be careful not to break anything. Taught by Lysandra Bauer

The Hogwarts library contains tens of thousands of books on thousands of shelves. Included in its many sections is an Invisibility Section, a section with information about dragons, and a Restricted Section at the back, set off with a rope. A signed note from a teacher is required to peruse that section of the library; it contains books of Dark Magic only used by older students studying advanced Defence Against the Dark Arts. One of the books in this section screams when opened. The library closes at 8 pm.

The corridor below the prefects' bathroom leads from the nearest staircase to the prefects' bathroom on the floor above and has a tapestry hanging about halfway down the corridor. This tapestry conceals a narrower staircase forming a shortcut that leads down two floors, which contains the trick step that needs to be jumped! The bottom of the staircase is also concealed by a tapestry. There is a secret passageway out of Hogwarts behind the mirror on the fourth floor.

The Room of Requirement is a magical room which can only be discovered by someone who is in need. It is called the Come and Go Room by the house-elves of Hogwarts. The Room is located on the seventh floor, opposite a tapestry showing Barnabas the Barmy trying to teach trolls to dance the ballet. To make the Room appear, a person has to walk past the section of blank wall three times concentrating hard on what is needed

The Slytherin common room is a long, low-ceilinged, dungeon-like room filled with skulls and the like. There are high-backed chairs and a carved mantelpiece on the fireplace. The walls are rough stone. The light is green from the green hanging lamps and because it's located under the lake

Accessed through a still life painting found near the kitchens; to reach it, you enter a door to the right of the main staircase in the Entrance Hall and down a staircase there. Although it is therefore at dungeon level, it is "as dissimilar as possible" from the Potions classroom. As we have seen in the other common rooms, it is decorated in House colours, which in this case means that there are lots of yellow hangings; like Gryffindor Tower, it has a lot of comfortable armchairs. There are "little underground tunnels leading to the dormitories, all of which have perfectly round doors, like barrel top.

entrance behind a large painting of a Fat Lady in a pink silk dress in a corridor on the seventh floor. If you know the right password to tell her, she opens to reveal a round opening in the wall leading into the Gryffindor common room, which is the lowest floor of the tower.

-dormitories - one boys' and one girls' per year for a total of fourteen - with four-poster beds - round rooms with windows (although these dormitories are not really on the seventh floor but in the tower which rises above the common room.

The castle is surrounded by high towers and in some areas, access is possible only through secret passage ways.

A large wizarding bookshop filled with shelves stacked to the ceiling, Flourish & Blotts is the primary - and perhaps only - supplier of textbooks for Hogwarts

Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C," Ollivander's is a narrow and shabby little shop with a window display consisting of a single wand resting on a faded purple cushion. Inside the walls are lined floor to ceiling with thousands of narrow boxes, which Mr. Ollivander chooses from when trying to find a wand to match each customer

Though far from the only wizarding clothier around, Madam Malkin's seems to be the best, as it is the place where most Hogwarts students purchase their robes. Madam Malkin herself is a friendly, squat witch.

Madam Malkin's is located next door to Flourish & Blotts, and in addition to selling Hogwarts school robes, they also sell robes which are "spangled, self-ironing, beautifying, slimming, fattening, lengthening," and "temperature-adjusting"and they carry robes made by Whopperwear "for the outsize witch or wizard." A later advertisement states that every robe sold at the store is "self-ironing and repairing" as well

A very crowded pet store, noisy with the sounds of all the animals. The proprietor is a witch who wears heavy black spectacles. She offers advice and sells things like rat tonic. Other creatures for sale included:

* enormous purple toads
* gigantic tortoise with jewel-encrusted shell (probably a Fire-Crab)
* poisonous orange snails (Streelers?)
* a fat white rabbit that changed into a top hat and back
* cats of every color
* noisy cage of ravens
* custard-colored furballs (probably Puffskeins)
* sleek, black rats, rather more intelligent than normal rats

Just around the corner from Diagon Alley lies a dark, twisting alleyway devoted to the Dark Arts: Knockturn Alley. It's a place that the Weasley children are not allowed in, and with good reason; not only are the wares sold their a bit dodgy, but the wizards hanging around behave fairly suspiciously as well. From the shops and the street vendors one can purchase, among other things, shrunken heads, poisonous candles, human-looking fingernails, and Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent
