The corridor below the prefects' bathroom leads from the nearest staircase to the prefects' bathroom on the floor above and has a tapestry hanging about halfway down the corridor. This tapestry conceals a narrower staircase forming a shortcut that leads down two floors, which contains the trick step that needs to be jumped! The bottom of the staircase is also concealed by a tapestry. There is a secret passageway out of Hogwarts behind the mirror on the fourth floor.
